Primary functions for IDMSC UK & Ireland
To promote the value of the Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) as the pre-eminent qualification for professionals working in vocational rehabilitation/disability management in the UK and Ireland.
To ensure that the examination is made available to suitable candidates in the UK and Ireland, and to assure that it is delivered professionally and securely.
To provide successful candidates with certification in a timely manner and to ensure on-going certification of existing CDMP certificate-holders as merited.
To Promote Consensus Based Disability Management as a strategy across all avenues in the UK and Ireland.
5 year NIDMAR training programme with the Scottish Government.
In 2003, the International Disability Management Standards Council (IDMSC) was established by senior representatives of business, labour, government, and other stakeholder groups from around the world.
The goal of the IDMSC is to reduce the human, social and economic costs of disability in the workplace. To achieve this end, it promotes standards that are international, professional and based on consensus.
The IDMSC includes senior representatives from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, China, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Who leads the program in the UK?
Graham Halsey formed ‘Well Working Matters Ltd’ (WWM) in 2013 as a Consultancy Company operating in the niche area of absence management and return to work; working alongside appropriately qualified associates in this specialist field of work.
WWM is aligned to the National Standards of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association and is accredited to the International Standards of the International Disability Management Standards Council (IDMSC) through the Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation.
In 2015, Well Working Matters became the sole license holder for the delivery of the CDMP education modules in the UK and Ireland. There has been a steady growth in the number of candidates undertaking this training including Health Professionals, Employability, Supported Employment, HR, Income Protection Return-to-work teams and Government Contractors; all having recognised the benefit of the link between the workplace and health rehabilitation offered by this wide-ranging course.
As part of the Opportunities Fife Partnership, we have been coordinating the delivery of NIDMAR case management for the last four years; successfully supporting Support Employment case managers to achieve CDMP registration.
The delivery of this training program is designed to meet the ministerial commitment to train 300 Supported Employment case managers.
